Appreciative inquiry

Appreciative inquiry is a way of creating change within an organization by exploring what is “right” with the organization rather than what is “wrong.” By understanding the best of what is, it’s possible to imagine what could be.

One way of doing appreciative inquiry is by following the 5-D cycle:

Define – What are we going to focus on?

Discover – What are the best parts of the current system?

Dream – What new possibilities can we imagine for the future?

Design – What should we do about it?

Deliver – Create the change.
